Conflict minerals

The Dodd-Frank Act requires all companies listed on the US stock exchange to report the fact of using conflict minerals - gold, tungsten, tin and tantalum from the civil war engulfed the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries in their production processes.


In practice this means that companies, not just those that are directly subject to the law but also companies which are in the supply chain of these companies, are obliged to prepare a CMRT report, in which they have to demonstrate the exact origin of used gold, tungsten, tin and tantalum and share it with their customers upon the request.


In order to prepare the CMRT report, the analysis of manufactured products for the presence of gold, tungsten, tin, tantalum and the identification of parts with the high-risk of presence of those minerals is necessary to perform. It is also necessary to verify the entire supply chain (all suppliers: direct, subcontractors and others) and to obtain reports from all them, their analysis and evaluation.


The aim of the training is to acquaint the legal requirements regarding conflict minerals, explanation of internal procedures prevent the use of those minerals, overview of tools for communication with suppliers and customers as well as tools for facilitate the verification and the analysis of the information received from suppliers and prepare the summary CMRT report.


The training is addressed to individuals working in the department of Logistics, Purchasing, people working with IMDS database, those responsible for fulfilling the legal requirements and all people interested in conflict-free sourcing.
