SCIP database – a new legal requirement for manufacturers, importers and distributors of articles

SCIP is the new database for information on Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products) established under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD).
Companies supplying articles containing substances of very high concern (SVHCs) on the REACH Candidate List in a concentration above 0.1% weight by weight (w/w) on the EU market have to submit information on these articles to European Chemical Agency (ECHA), as from 5 January 2021.
The SCIP database ensures that the information on articles containing Candidate List substances is available throughout the whole lifecycle of products, including at the waste stage. The information in the database is then made available to waste operators and consumers.
The aim of the training is to get acquainted with the new legal requirement to submit information on substances of very high concern (SVHC) on the candidate list of the REACH regulation. The SCIP data will be presented to training participates and the information necessary to submit the notification will be described. The tools provided by ECHA and the possibilities for group notifications will be discussed. Methods of collecting the required data will also be presented in order to prepare a large number of notifications as efficiently as possible.
The training is addressed to people operating in the HSE, Quality, Logistics, Purchasing departments, people responsible for meeting legal requirements and all those interested in the subject of SCIP database.

5. Preparation of data to be submitted.

7. Communication with suppliers to get information on SVHC in components and receive the notification numbers in due time.
